Five Most Common Plumbing Emergencies

While surprises can be exciting and spice up our lives, too many surprises-turned-emergencies can be unpleasant and eradicate the desire to be excited completely.

How ever disturbing life's little turns can be, nothing tops the list the way that plumbing problems do.

Everyday chores become nearly impossible without water, whether that be no water or even too much water.

Plumbing problems can either keep the homeowner from accessing water or waste entire gallons in no time. These problems can come in all shapes and sizes, typically due to negligence, or sometimes it's as simple as a poor plumbing setup.

In the following article, we provide the five most common types of plumbing emergencies that are likely to happen to a household at one point or another.

Sink Drains Slowly

In both bathrooms and kitchens, sinks will eventually drain too slowly if preventative measures are not taken. When insoluble fragments get stuck on the pivot rod and clog the drain, excess water begins to back up. The drain functions sluggishly, causing any plans involving the sink to come to a  stop.

It's probably food particles for the kitchen, while in the bathroom, it is typically soap scum, hair, or other detritus. These culprits must be removed before there is any sufficient water flow.

Faucets That Drip

The repetive sound of water droplets can be downright jarring, whether it's coming from the bathroom or the kitchen. Faulty O-rings and gaskets or mineral deposits on the fixture's internal workings are all causes for leakage.

Leaking faucets aren't only bothersome to our ears, they are also responsible for water being wasted and potentially even water damage to surrounding structures. Leaking faucets should be fixed as soon as humanly possible to prevent any damages from occurring.

Low Water Pressure

When a faucet refuses to spray with speed and volume, and the water from the tap is dripping slowly, it indicates that the water pressure is too low. It can be caused by clogged or corroded pipes, malfunctioning pressure regulators, shut-off valves, or defective fixtures.

Water is typically used at all times in a home, and slowed water pressure is always unwanted.

Broken Water Heater

Water heater problems range from leaking tanks and stinky water to a sudden cut in the hot water supply. Water heaters are absolutely essential and helpful. Although the homeowner can fix the majority of plumbing problems with the right tools and tricks, water heater issues are complicated and are best left to the professionals when it comes time to fix them.

Leaking Pipes

Pipes can leak for many reasons. The wear and tear of a pipe because of high water pressure can cause weakness after a certain point, which causes cracks. Surprisingly, even the water temperature changes from cold to hot can affect the durability, causing pipes to open at even points. Clogging due to corrosion and debris build-up might also stop water from flowing properly. This will burden the pipes, which ultimately leads to leaks.

When it comes to any one of these plumbing emergencies, it is always best to get in contact with a professional plumber. You will get long-lasting solutions leading to an uninterrupted flow of water and the peace of mind you deserve.
